An excerpt from The Kuwait Series, 2008
The photography series below is a school that was destroyed in the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait that launched the Gulf War in 1990. I was living in Kuwait in 2008, and photographed this abandoned school, which I understand remains as it was left in 1990, with the additions only of the human who ventured in between 1990 - 2008. I do not know what happened to it after 2008 when I returned to the US. This work has never been exhibited - as I'm unsure what to do with it, if anything, or how I witness it as a white American photographer. I welcome insight from any who might find this page.
